The main equipment is being installed in the copper foil electrodeposition division under construction at KMEZ
At the Kyshtym Copper Electrolytic Plant (JSC KMEZ, Kyshtym, Chelyabinsk Region, part of the Russian Copper Company Group), the installation of the main equipment in the copper foil electrodeposition division is undergoing. New ED-cells and Treater were delivered from Japan. Modern equipment will make it possible to create unique thinnest sheets required for the production of a high-tech electronics and lithium-ion batteries. JSC KMEZ plans to produce 1200 tons of unique foil with a thickness of 9 to 105 microns from copper rod of its own production annually. This workshop will become the only copper foil production facility in Russia.
Specialists of the Russian Foil are installing anode plates on the ED-cells and connecting the equipment to the electrical circuits. All work is carried out under the supervision of experts from Japanese manufacturers of the main equipment. During the period of restrictions due to coronavirus pandemic, Japan get in touch with Kyshtym via videoconferences.
JSC KMEZ plans to complete the installation of ED-cells by the end of August, the Treater will be installed within three months. After that, the start-up of equipment, adjustment of all systems and improvement of product quality will begin.
JSC Kyshtym Copper Electrolytic Plant is one of the oldest metallurgical factories in the Urals, founded in 1757, acquired by RMK in 2003. Under the management of RMK, the plant underwent a complete technical modernization: the second anode furnace was reconstructed; a new Tankhouse was constructed under the project of Outotec (Finland); a facility for the production of copper wire rod was built with Southwire Company technology (USA); overhaul repairs of the main melting unit of the plant was carried out; the process of electrolytic refining of copper was optimized. The production capacity of copper rod is 140 thousand tons per year and 140 thousand tons of copper cathodes per year.
Russian Copper Company (JSC RCC) is one of the three largest copper manufactures in Russia. Founded in 2004. RCC’s plant assets are located in the Chelyabinsk, Sverdlovsk, Orenburg, Novgorod regions, in the Khabarovsk Territory, as well as in the Republic of Kazakhstan. The RCC Group includes eight mining facilities, a hydrometallurgical plant, three metallurgical plants and a trading company. They carry out a full production cycle — from mining and processing of ore to the release and sale of finished products. RCC produces copper concentrate, copper cathodes and copper wire rod, as well as zinc concentrate, refined gold and silver. RCC plant assets make it possible to manufacture 220 thousand tons of copper cathodes and 235 thousand tons of copper wire rod per year. More than 10 thousand people work at the plants of the RCC Group. RCC annually allocates about 1 billion rubles for the social projects implementation.
